OurCinema Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2 October 2026
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy describes how the OurCinema Windows desktop application handles information when a user chooses to enable Google-based synchronization.
OurCinema is a local-first personal movie and series library. The app can be used without Google synchronization.
2. Google API data accessed
OurCinema uses Google OAuth and requests the limited https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file scope.
This permission is used only for files that the user explicitly selects for OurCinema or that OurCinema creates for its own synchronization workflow. OurCinema does not request permission to browse or read the user's entire Google Drive.
The application may access the selected OurCinema Google Sheets file in order to read and write synchronization data such as:
- movie and series metadata stored by the user;
- ratings, reviews and watch history;
- wish-list and interest information;
- series progress;
- shared and personal library state;
- profile interface preferences that the user chooses to synchronize;
- synchronization operation identifiers and technical revision data needed to keep devices consistent.
3. How Google user data is used
Google user data is used solely to authenticate the user, allow the user to select or create the OurCinema synchronization file, and synchronize the user's OurCinema library between authorized devices.
Google user data is not used for advertising, profiling, marketing, credit decisions, AI model training, or AI-generated non-consensual intimate imagery.
4. Local storage
OurCinema stores its working database locally on the user's computer. This may include library data, ratings, reviews, watch events, wish lists, series progress and local image caches.
OAuth credentials or refresh tokens used to maintain the user's Google connection are stored locally on the user's device. They are not placed inside the shared Google Sheets library and are not intentionally transmitted to other OurCinema users.
5. Data sharing and sale
OurCinema does not sell Google user data or other personal data.
OurCinema does not transfer Google user data to advertising networks, data brokers, analytics providers, or unrelated third parties.
Library data is shared only through the Google file that the user chooses to use for synchronization and only with accounts to which that Google file has been granted access by its owner.
6. Data retention and deletion
Local OurCinema data remains on the user's device until the user deletes or replaces it.
Cloud synchronization data remains in the user's selected Google file until the user edits or deletes that file or removes the relevant data through OurCinema.
Users can stop Google synchronization at any time by disconnecting Google in OurCinema and/or revoking OurCinema access in their Google Account permissions. Users can also delete the OurCinema Google Sheets file from their Google Drive.
7. Security
OurCinema uses OAuth 2.0 for Google authorization. The application does not ask users to enter their Google password into OurCinema.
The app follows a least-access approach by requesting the limited drive.file permission rather than broad access to the user's entire Google Drive.
8. Google API Services User Data Policy
OurCinema's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs is limited to providing and improving the user-facing synchronization functionality described above and is intended to comply with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including applicable Limited Use requirements.
9. User controls
Users can use OurCinema without enabling Google synchronization. Users who enable it may disconnect Google from the application at any time. Revoking Google authorization prevents further access until the user authorizes the application again.
10. Changes to this policy
If OurCinema's Google data practices materially change, this policy will be updated before the new behavior is used in production.
